Lockdown Anecdote

It would seem that the Literary Giants amongst our Membership cannot contain themselves to 500 words, so the upper limit is now extended to 1000 words (or thereabouts!). Entries far in excess of “thereabouts” may be forwarded to The Donald for use in his re-election campaign.

Alternatives!

……..and now for something completely different – as a diversion from the B – – – – – word!

You may enter either or both.

Firstly:

The Bassingham Bridge Club Cryptic Lockdown Quiz

I know some of you – well maybe one of you – will be sorely missing the Blakeney Quiz, so I thought I would compile one where the answers are fairly topical at the moment and open it up to all Club Members. So if you’re looking for a different diversion from reading, gardening, overeating/drinking, zooming the grandkids, writing your memoirs – or anything really – why not have a go at this simple, relaxing and “highly entertaining” quiz! You could be in line for a “magnificent prize!” Winning entries – assuming there’s more than one! – will be entered into a draw.

Closing date for entries (to be emailed to me) is November 30th 2020.

Secondly:

An amusing Lockdown anecdote – real or imagined!

Puy tour literary skills to the test (in not more than 500 words!) by relating something which happened – or could have happened! – during Lockdown. Again an amazing prize awaits the winning entry!

Closing date for entries (to be emailed to me) is November 30th 2020.

For the quiz open the file below – if that creates a problem I can email it to you.

Curry Bridge Evening

Our next Curry Bridge Evening will be on Wednesday March 18th at Newark Golf Club. The price remains at £8 per head. Andy Milner has kindly agreed to direct this event which will be straightforward Chicago with no “hidden extras!” You may arrive from 6.30pm onwards and please be seated ready to start play by 6.55pm. The bar will be open for you to buy drinks. There will be three curries – one medium/hot (usually beef), one mild (usually chicken) and one medium (vegetarian); these will be served as near to 8pm as possible. When you drive in off the A17 follow the track till you come to a security gate; drive up close to it and it will open; when you leave you will need a four figure code to enter into a keypad just before the gate to allow the gate to open. You will be told this code during the evening and you can ask any of the bar staff.

If you wish to attend you will need a partner. Please let me know asap as numbers are limited. You can let me know either by replying to this email or when you next see me. Your booking will be confirmed when I receive payment.
