Amendment to proposal 9.A at the AGM

Proposal from Roger Shelley, seconded by Margaret Shelley

Before voting on the main proposal members are invited to consider the following consequences of approval

(a) The proposal effectively establishes 12 sessions of randomised pairs with no other form of bridge available to members on those evenings

(b) This equates to one quarter of pairs bridge played at the club, which is unusual in my experience

(c) The club, quite rightly, values inclusivity. However, the proposal acts against it by potentially excluding any member not interested in randomised pairs for 12 sessions each year.

The amendment proposed is (a) to maintain the status quo until such time as the Committee has reflected on the issues above and (b) consults the membership widely on a future programme of bridge events which meet the needs of a greatly expanded membership compared to when the original programme was drawn up.
